Safer gambling

Staying in control is the whole point

Gambling is meant to be entertainment. If it stops feeling that way, these organisations offer free, confidential and genuinely independent support — none of them are run by Chipway House or by any casino operator.

You must be 18 or over to gamble in Great Britain. If you're under 18, please leave this site.

GAMSTOP

A free service that lets you exclude yourself from all GB-licensed online gambling websites and apps at once, for a period you choose — 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years.

GamCare

The UK's leading provider of free information, advice and support for anyone affected by their own or someone else's gambling, including a helpline and live webchat.

GambleAware

An independent charity funding treatment, education and research into gambling harm across Great Britain, with tools to help you understand and manage your gambling.

Gambling Commission

The statutory regulator for gambling in Great Britain. Its public register lets anyone check whether an operator currently holds a valid licence.

Signs worth paying attention to

  • Spending more time or money on gambling than you originally planned to
  • Chasing losses by betting more to try to win them back
  • Gambling to relieve stress, boredom or low mood, rather than for enjoyment
  • Borrowing money, or hiding the amount or frequency of your gambling from people close to you
  • Feeling irritable, anxious or preoccupied when you're not gambling

None of these mean something is seriously wrong on their own, but if a few sound familiar, it's worth having a confidential conversation with GamCare or GambleAware — both are free and won't judge.

Tools most licensed operators offer

Every operator authorised by the Gambling Commission is required to offer certain player protection tools, which typically include deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and full self-exclusion. Availability and exact wording vary by operator, so check the responsible gambling section of the specific site you're using.

A note on this page

Chipway House is an independent publisher, not GAMSTOP, GamCare, GambleAware or the Gambling Commission, and we don't run or control any of the services above. We link to them because they're the right people to talk to.
